Annual Meeting

Good evening all!

Just sending out another reminder for the upcoming annual meeting January 24th at Honey Creek Resort on Lake Rathbun. This year we decided to go with a larger venue to accommodate the growing membership and provide a great venue that has something for everyone. This resort has and INDOOR WATERPARK for the whole family to enjoy! They also have many outdoor activities including hiking/walking trails, fishing on Lake Rathbun, and is minutes from the Rathbun OHV park for those willing to brave the January cold and ride Saturday! Bring the family and the machines to get out of that cabin fever and join the fun!

This year’s meeting will not disappoint with updates from this past years events, planning of the 2016 events, guest speakers covering OHV related topics, clubs from all around the state,a 50/50 raffle, and door prizes just to name a few things.

This year we are offering a new bonus for those who bring in door prizes! As always we ask members to go around their local dealers as they have always offered door prizes for this cause, this year we have started to offer 10 FREE TICKETS to those who bring in door prizes to be given away!! This will help us get back to having a stage FULL of great door prizes for all attendees to win!

There will be a lunch option that day for a small fee. Please make sure to RSVP by January 10 to myself or any of our board members you may have info for or visit our website (IowaOHV.com) for the list. We need a general idea of attendees to have these lunches ready for all who come out. There is a great bar and restaurant in the resort for all other meals so come hungry!!

For all of your booking needs we have negotiated an amazing rate for that weekend!! Normal room rates are $140 per night,we have a block of rooms locked in for the crazy low rate of $69 per night! Book by January 5th to ensure you get this rate before it’s gone or the rooms book out.

Watch your emails and our Facebook page for more info as the date approaches. Also don’t forget to share all of this info as well as our flyer to help fill the meeting with members and potential members!! The future of the sport depends on our members and getting involved. Big things to come in 2016 so don’t miss out!!

OHV Park Closure Alert Page and OHV Park Pages

OHV Park Closure Alert Page and OHV Park Pages

The DNR OHV Program has recently made some changes to the program pages on the web site and with the OHV Reference Guide to make finding OHV-related information easier for enthusiasts.

To find information about OHV rules, regulations, grants,ATV Education, riding in Iowa, and more,go to www.iowadnr.gov/OHV.

A page for each park has been added to the web site to provide riders with information about location, trails, and amenities.  This information can be found at www.iowadnr.gov/OHVparks.

From time to time the OHV parks need to be closed due to wet weather, trail projects,or special events.  A new OHV Park Closure Alert System has been implemented to provide you with up-to-date closure information.  A listing of park closures can be found by going to the link for the parks and opening the menu in the left-hand navigation pane (click on the plus sign).  Each park manager can post real-time closure information about the park.  This is the best tool we have to let riders know about a park’s status of closed.  The OHV Park Hotline has been discontinued.

Additionally, the 2014 OHV Reference Guide has QR codes for each park’s page and the park closure page for enthusiast convenience.  These codes can be found on pages 26-33.

When do they plan to open this new section? Was there Sat Nov 30 and did not look open. Been a year since I have been there and see lots of work on campsites.

  • Todd Helmers

I am not sure trying to find out. I would like to ride there also.

Sunday 7-13-14 is the Iowa Quarterly meeting and ride in Fort Dodge. We will be starting the meeting at 10am in the shelter house at the park. If it looks like rain this will be moved into the work building. We will have a few topics to discus and will hear from State Senator Daryl Beall on his impression of the park and give some insight into contacting our legislators about upcoming issues or projects. We plan to try and keep all of this short as possible to allow more time ridding the new phase but please be patient. Once we head out to the new phase the gate WILL be locked behind us to ensure only the OHV members will be allowed in. We will provide some water inside the gate but again we will not be allowed to go back and forth. They plan to be out of the phase 2 by 3pm so plan on taking advantage of the time we are allowed. After some discussion there will not be a lunch on site so please plan accordingly.
